The Scotsman - Otis Lee Crenshaw is the Tennessee jailbird from a trailer-trash family so poor that blues singers used to call round when they had writers block. A former truck driver and serial husband, he has been in and out of chokey for some years now, giving him plenty of time to ponder the absurdity of Elvis's rose-tinted Jailhouse Rock and knock off some more realistic ditties of his own... much to the delight of the enthralled audience.
The Guardian - An hour with Crenshaw skips through blistering spontaneity, excruciatingly funny banter and heckler put-downs as mortifying as an electric chair. Musical high points include the classic soul tear-jerker He Almost Looks Like You, a touching ode to prison rape.
